Spring 2025 felt like a reset — 131 shows across formats and a surprising mix of sequels and fresh originals. WITCH WATCH and The Beginning After the End grabbed the most attention, while Wind Breaker Season 2 and a handful of new fantasy series rounded out a mostly entertaining quarter.
Spring 2025 landed as a mixed bag I actually liked — lots of sequels that felt comfortable and a raft of originals that took chances. WITCH WATCH rode the show's goofy, character-driven comedy to the top, with a cast that clicked so well the episodes breezed by. The Beginning After the End finally translated more of the manga's spectacle to screen, giving its big fights and emotional turns room to breathe. Wind Breaker Season 2 kept the street-fight choreography sharp, and David Production showed up on a few projects with clean, dependable animation.
On the quieter side, Kowloon Generic Romance leaned into mood and design in a way that made it feel distinct, and I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years S2 stuck to the slow, comforting pace fans wanted. New originals — especially in fantasy and music — were the season's real risk-takers, some landing memorable concepts even if not all hit every week. Overall it was a season that rewarded patience: a few clear hits, plenty of curious experiments, and a general sense that studios were willing to try different tones.
